A review of BMF Academy Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction

Indy was given the opportunity to sign up for a training course as part of her personal development at KitBrix, where she works full time as Brand and Content Manager. She chose to study with the BMF Academy and has shared her review of the course below:

“I chose the BMF Academy for my Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction because having looked around for options in the market, it became clear that The BMF Academy has an excellent reputation for high standards of teaching and instruction – something I believe is key when you’re investing time and money in your education.

I was immediately impressed by the structure and flexible learning programme they offered. There was a lot of theory and distant learning to do prior to the first practical weekend, but this allowed me to get a thorough theoretical understanding before being thrown into the group environment. It also prepared me for the physical challenges ahead!

The practical weekends took place within a small group of students at Brunel University where we had access to world class gym equipment. We began by designing a programme for a partner (client) which was specific to their aims and goals. Throughout the weekend we then built on this; adding objectives and teaching points; preparing us for working as a BMF instructor or fitness instructor once qualified.

In terms of how the day was run, it was broken down into interactive lessons where we could refresh ourselves on the theory we’d learnt at home beforehand, and practical time to reinforce this theory by role-playing instructor/client situations that you would expect as a gym instructor.

This learning style meant that I not only felt fully prepared for the exams during the final weekend, but would also feel ready to take this role on outside a class environment if I wanted to pursue this as a career path.

I recommend the British Military Fitness Academy for its thorough approach and professionalism throughout. Although labelled as “British Military…’ (which made me a little nervous at the start!), it was inclusive, friendly and supportive at all levels.

The quality and depth of the course was more than I expected, and the instructors push you beyond the ‘basic guidelines’ for a Level 2 qualification. I feel ready to enter the world of fitness and help people achieve their goals, but first… bring on Level 3!”
