Become a fully qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach with BMF Academy’s world class development programme. This course is suitable for competent and qualified professionals who are looking to develop their skills to an advanced level.
To provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare, deliver and review strength and conditioning programmes that will help athletes to achieve their performance goals. During the qualification learners will cover the following:
– The role of a strength and conditioning coach as part of an athlete’s support team.
– Methods of carrying out performance-related needs analysis, measurements and assessments.
– Strategies to analyse and evaluate assessment in order to be able to develop and agree short-, medium- and long-term performance goals.
– Planning, delivering and evaluating periodised, performance-related strength and conditioning programmes.
– Learners must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (or equivalent), a Level 3 Coaching qualification (or equivalent) or a –
Level 3 Strength and conditioning qualification (or equivalent).
– Learners may also hold relevant higher education or further education qualifications that are equivalent or higher than those listed above (e.g. physiotherapy, sports therapy).
– There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3.
Our course is delivered across 4 months and you are required to attend the course one weekend a month for that 4-month period. Each weekend will have specific topic and your home study prior to that weekend should be based around the upcoming topic being delivered. The weekends will be a mixture of both theory and practical sessions.
Along with the BMF Academy manual you will also be provided with the NSCA Essentials of Strength Training & Conditioning. It is vitally important that throughout the course you refer back to both of these resources in order to understand the subjects and content delivered. These manuals will go hand in hand with some of the E-learning lectures and on course content. We believe it is incredibly important to have a variety of learning methods available. Please ensure you make best use of these resources.
Throughout the whole process of your course, you will be required to complete a series of E-learning modules, which are essential for your learning. These modules will comprise of relevant anatomy and physiology topics along with topical issues within the strength and conditioning world. Each lecture will be around 30-60 minutes long and will come with a small knowledge check quiz at the end to help you consolidate your learning
Our tutors have provided a series of video content around weightlifting and other technical components of strength and conditioning based training. These will help support you in your practice and help ensure you are practically competent to pass your final practical assessment.
Presentation & VIVA
Your presentation and VIVA will be completed on your final weekend. This presentation should provide detailed information on the results of needs analysis along with a detailed 12-month macro cycle including all of the following phases:
– First transition
– Second transition (active rest)
Your case study is required to be submitted on your final weekend. Using the results, you collected from your needs analysis you are expected to design and create a 12-week training plan for your athlete. You should take into account a variety of factors that could impact the end result of this plan.
During the course there will be a series of practical assessments. On weekend 3 you will be required to complete a weightlifting assessment on the back squat, clean and jerk, and the snatch.
On weekend 4 you will be required to deliver 10-20 minute practical components around the following:
– Warm up
– Speed and agility
– All aspects of each component must be relevant to your client’s goals, sport, and ability.
On weekend 4 you will be required to complete a theory paper exam which will last 90 minutes. The exam is out of a total 50 marks which is broken down into three sections:
– 15 possible marks from multiple choice questions (1 mark each)
– 15 possible marks from 5 short answer questions
– 20 possible marks from 2 long answer questions
– You must achieve 70% in each section in order to successfully pass the exam.
Our Level 4 Strength and Conditioning courses are accredited by the Register of Exercise Professionals, a widely recognised company who endorses our L4 Strength and Conditioning courses, ensuring it meets industry standards for course criteria and quality of delivery. Through our REPs Award, you are able to earn 20 CPD points for the Active Leisure, Learning and Well-being sector.
